Safer Internet Day 2017 is taking place globally today, on the 7th February, with the theme "Be the change:Unite for a better internet".
This is coordinated in the UK by the UK Safer Internet Centre, the celebration sees hundreds of organisations get involved to help promote the safe, responsible and positive use of digital technology for children and young people.
The day offers the opportunity to highlight positive uses of technology and to explore the role we all play in helping to create a better and safer online community. It calls upon young people, parents, carers, teachers, social workers, law enforcement, companies, policymakers, and wider, to join together in helping to create a better internet.
Schools across the UK will be using the UK Safer Internet Centre’s Education Packs and Safer Internet Day TV films to explore these issues with their pupils and parents.
There are Education Packs for primary age children (3-11s), secondary school age children (11-18s) and parents and carers, to provide lots of great ideas to help schools, youth groups and other organisations get involved in Safer Internet Day.
