About Us

Education Staffing Link Limited (ESL) was founded in 1994 by Dorothy Dakin. Her aim was simple, to offer schools and members of the profession a high quality supply service. Guiding principles, adopted in 1994 remain as relevant today and our service provision remains under the watchful eye of our founding director.

Dorothy’s son, Jonathan joined ESL in 1997 and with Dorothy’s expert guidance helped transform ESL from a sole propriety to a Limited Company which now employs 9 people within the office. Jonathan accepted the role of Managing Director in 2004.

Recognising the value of shared best practice, in 1998, ESL joined the Education Section of FRES (Federation of Recruitment and Employment Services). As a consequence of the merger of two long-established bodies, FRES became the REC (Recruitment and Employment Confederation) in 2000.

In 2001, the DfE launched a consultation on a Quality Mark standard to benchmark Local Authorities and Supply Agencies recruitment practices; ESL was a supportive and active participant. In 2002, ESL was an inaugural member of the Quality Mark scheme; maintaining 100% compliance until the scheme was closed in April 2013. Recognising the value and benefit of external audit and validation, ESL was an active supporter of REC Audited for Education, being the first Midlands company to receive the award in November 2013.

ESL maintains a commitment to deliver to prospective and existing client schools, team members and pupils a long term high quality service based on collaboration, partnership, transparency, integrity, financial fairness and trust.
