We had a steady start to January which also saw a rare snow day for many schools across the Birmingham and surrounding regions. Thank you to our wonderful Teachers and Teaching Assistants for your understanding. We made it into the office but as our supply team had been monitoring school’s websites, social media etc. our day was made much easier.
You may have seen articles in the press relating to tackling tax non-compliance in the umbrella company market, impacting agencies and agency workers who use umbrella companies. Education Staffing Link have never used an umbrella company, and we have always paid our supply team ‘in the spirit of the law’, inhouse, by PAYE. Operating in the public sector space, one of our core values is financial fairness and we understand the importance of taxpayer’s money being spent responsibly. We are committed to paying by PAYE and we will never use umbrella companies.
The other legislation that will have an impact in our field is the Employment Rights Act 2025 which is in final stages before being introduced. We are keeping an eye on developments and will share any information when we have it confirmed.
We hope the first half of the term is going well.
